Believe nothing that is reasonable or rational. Only believe the “divine” written words of archaic men that thought the earth was flat.
“Reason must be deluded, blinded, and destroyed. Faith must trample underfoot all reason, sense, and understanding, and whatever it sees must be put out of sight and … know nothing but the word of God.”
Same-sex unions officially start becoming legalized in Iowa on Monday, May 4th. Gloria Villanueva of Bonaparte, Iowa has organized a statewide prayer service against gay marriage at 7:45 a.m. She has been contacting churches around the state, informing them of the event and asking for their support.
“Our main idea is to be praying for our county recorders and encouraging them to do what is right,” Villanueva explains.
I’m pretty sure county recorders will do their job. I have never understood intercessory prayer. The basic premise is if you organize enough people to pray the same prayer over and over again it will eventually annoy god enough to prod him into action.
Continue to pray if it gives you peace, but don’t expect an invisible god to do you beckoning like a hand puppet. It has never worked in the past, so why would it start now?
An image was just released of the newly approved Jesus license plate in Florida. It is apparently acceptable for a state to give favoritism to one religion over all others. Is there also a Mohammed license plate option?
I wouldn’t bother posting this if it wasn’t such a tacky design. For any non-Christian, this is nothing more than an image of the dead body of a horrifically executed man. I can’t see what purpose this even serves. Do Christians actually believe people will suddenly convert to Christianity after viewing this silly license plate?
The only purpose this truly serves is to give people a “holier than thou” badge of honor on their car.
Here is previous design that was attempted last year. The design is very tacky, but much less offensive than a dead corpse:
People love to give god credit when it benefits them financially. I’ve heard friends and family thanking god for providing a new job or a salary raise and promotion. I do understand why a religious person does this. They are taught to feel guilty for taking credit for their own achievements, so they give god the credit instead.
This story is a bit different. Reverend Brad Braxton of Riverside Church was recently installed as the new senior pastor with a $600,000 package in salary and perks. This has resulted in a lawsuit from parishioners asking to trim the excessive pay package.
Braxton finally broke his silence to explain that his raise was “Lord-approved”.
“God told me all week, ‘I got you.’” the Rev. Brad Braxton said to thunderous applause.
Also claiming his critics were:
“Mistaking molehills for mountains.”
Hypocrisy from Christian leadership at it’s best. If the Lord signed off on the raise I’m not sure why everyone is so upset. If I had a direct line to god he could approve a pay raise for me as well. I guess god only does that for special people. Others don’t even know where their next meal is going to come from.
I was looking through a media gallery at thedailybeast.com and found these disturbing images from Bandung, Indonesia. The following images are from a mass “Female Circumcision Ceremony”, or termed more accurately by most as female genital mutilation. These innocent young girls are brought one by one by their parents to have their clitoris and part or all of their labia minora removed in honor of the Prophet Mohammed’s birthday. The parents were even given money to subject their children to this horrific mutilation.
How can there still be any willingly practicing Muslim women? It is absolutely baffling to me.
Midwives wait for their next circumcision victim. 248 girls were mutilated in the Female Circumcision Ceremony on April 23, 2006.
A terrified Muslim girl resists as she is prepared to be mutilated.
A young Muslim girl is comforted as she sits with her mother following her mutilation ceremony.
I can’t even comprehend this. How can people be so blinded by religion to torture their own child?
This is an actual online ad for the web site TogetherChristian.com. Apparently sex sells, even with a Christian audience. But I think they missed a huge marketing opportunity with the bullet points.
It should have read:
† Thousands of Blonde, Large Breasted Christian Women in Skimpy Tight Shirts † Safe Christian Community with Excessively Attractive Women † Free Profile
Christians Join for FREE!
This could lead to a huge revival of young men being born again as Christians. That’s what I call effective evangelism.
Religions have battled for centuries over which god is real and which religious doctrine is truth. The battle always ends in a draw, with statements like, “It is true because the (insert religious texts) told me so”.
If it can’t be settled with dogma and theology, maybe it can be resolved in an ultimate fighting head to head battle. An online game, Faith Fighter, is now available to see which god is truly all-powerful.
Seriously, it’s a really cool game. It has received some negative publicity by religious groups who are outraged by it’s content. I think most religious people would agree that it is actually kind of funny. Enjoy.
