I have criticized the Pope and Catholic Church in several recent posts. To open discussion on the Protestant side of things, I’m starting a new weekly series called “The wisdom of Martin Luther”.
I was a member of the Lutheran Church my entire life, until I walked away from my Christian faith a year ago. The German monk, Martin Luther, inspired the Protestant Reformation and led to many of the Christian denominations today. He is considered one of the most influential people in human history.
This weekly series will focus on the many teachings of this extremely wise and influential Christian leader.

This should be good to watch. Luther said a lot of crackpot things. Luther said a lot of truth. It will be interesting what you choose. What branch of Lutheranism did you leave? I’m an ELCA pastor.

I was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for 33 years.
I used to think Martin Luther was an extremely inspiring person. He was a brave revolutionary against the evil practices of the Catholic Church and I believed he spoke the truth as you do. He was also a musician and lover of music like myself. But it wasn’t until recently that I read more about what this man really stood for and believed. He wasn’t any better than the evil church he rebelled against.
