Jesus was never married.
May 26, 2009 at 11:09 am |
It’s more of a civil union than a marriage. Polygamy is illegal, and Jesus wants to keep his “without sin” status.

what a waste of space. if she’s married to jesus then what about the holy ghost and god? seems like if you take one you have to take on the whole divine trinity…what a spiritual gangbang…… i wonder if she would let jesus come inside her..

Actually, on looking at the article, I amend my original statement. Jesus was never married to anybody. There are, however, many people who are married to Jesus.
Jesus is the head of his Church, all humanity is the body of His church. So just as the head is connected to the body, so Jesus is connected, married, to the body of Christ.

If “There are, however, many people who are married to Jesus” would that not require there to be same sex marriages? And, just today, weren’t same sex marriages taken away from people in California on what is certainly a law put into place based on Christian beliefs?
Ugh, you people…
May 26, 2009 at 3:15 pm |
I guess you don’t know what ‘marriage’ is…
May 26, 2009 at 3:45 pm |
Would that make right wing Christian extremists the ass of Christ’s body?
How exactly are you connected to a Jewish guy from 2,000 years ago? You can’t hear him or see him. He doesn’t answer your prayers or protect you from harm. What good is a husband if he’s invisible? And what good is a head if it doesn’t guide you or help you?
That is not the definition of a relationship. It is the definition of an imaginary friend.

Through the accounts of his life and his teachings, we are connected. You can’t see or hear Franklin Roosevelt, either, but his legacy lives on. So does Jesus’. How do you know he doesn’t answer prayers or protect you??? Christ is not inivsible, he’s all-pervasive-everywhere. And He does guide you, whether or not youacknowledge him.
There’s more to life than this life…
May 26, 2009 at 4:21 pm
Franklin Roosevelt didn’t claim to be God’s son and tell me to pray in his name so that God would answer my prayers. A legacy is much different than divine presence in your life.
I know that God does not protect people or answer prayers because I have eyes that see and ears that hear. If he protected people, god would not allow Catholic priests to molest children or genocide to occur in countries like Rwanda.
70% of the worlds population does not acknowledge Jesus, and will spend eternity in hell according to the Bible. Jesus needs to do a better job of guiding people.

Would it be REALLY cruel to say “No wonder she`s a virgin?” Yes, I suppose it would, so I won`t say it! However, I do have to say that at first I thought this was another “spoof” interview, similar to those that certain comedians in the UK are so very good at, but sadly it appears not, again! How on earth can any sane adult believe that, quite apart from the stupid “marriage” thing, they have “Jesus” in a room of their apartment just because there is a little image of him there? I`m going to have to stop visiting this blog before I lose the will to live!!
May 26, 2009 at 4:07 pm |
The same way we eat his body and drink his blood each day at Mass.
May 26, 2009 at 4:11 pm |
That idea is just too silly for words!!!
May 26, 2009 at 4:26 pm |
And how is that different than ancient pagan religions? Human blood sacrifices and cannibalism. Too bizarre.
May 26, 2009 at 4:40 pm |
Beattitude, you seem to think that life on earth is the end of it all, and nothing could possibly be better. I don’t believe that. You buy insurance for protection, does it stop accidents? I don’t think so. Houses still burn even though you have insurance.
Your statistics don’t mean much-even using them, 30% of the world does believe in Jesus. That’s more than believe in any other faith. But even so, we Catholics don’t believe that you have to believe in Jesus to go to heaven. And you do, even if you believe, have to live your faith to get there. One thing I do know, when you die, you will find out whether he’s real or not, and if he is and you haven’t believed and lived a good life, it will be too late.
May 26, 2009 at 10:31 pm |
God is nothing more than an insurance plan for you? Why is God waiting to nuke people that questioned the validity of beliefs based in archaic doctrine and a completely unperceivable god?
It wasn’t until the early 1960′s that Catholics decided others could get into heaven. Pre “Vatican II” even other Protestant denominations were believed to go to hell by Roman Catholic teaching.
Thus is the saga of Roman Catholicism. Get a Pope and a council together and make up whatever rules you want.

Ha! That`s the stupidest argument I`ve heard to date. Suppose you`ve been worshipping the Christian “god” for years, and when you die you discover that “God” is one of the OTHER deities – what then?!!
May 26, 2009 at 4:43 pm |
Wow, that’s kind of ridiculous. What gives her the right to be married to Jesus? I mean, doesn’t he have some say in the matter?
Whatever, she needs to get checked out in the head, she is a bit wacked out.
Well, good day to all.

They`re in BIG trouble if it turns out He really was gay after all!!!!!
May 26, 2009 at 9:33 pm |
This is so insane, I can’t even finish watching it. Next thing you know, the Globe will be covering stories about people who think they’re married to Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy.
May 27, 2009 at 12:17 am |
Well Heidi, for your information I married Barbie over twenty years ago, and we`ve been very happy together ever since, so there!
May 26, 2009 at 9:54 pm |
Oh thank goodness they aren’t allowed to have their own children. I hate it when stupid genes gets passed on…
May 27, 2009 at 9:55 am |
Now im confused…If Nuns are married to Jesus then what´s the situation with Monks?
May 27, 2009 at 1:36 pm |
Wow, is this woman for real? She seems absolutely delusional
in the way she acts about Jesus being in the next room. She should get help before she harms herself or someone else.
May 29, 2009 at 11:22 pm |
Okay, the church allows this cookiness, but they abhor gay marriage? Oh, brother!
And I agree with Aspentroll who says the woman seems delusional and should get help before she harms herself or someone else. The only thing I would add is that the church itself is delusional and has already harmed plenty of people for centuries. She is, in my opinion, a micro-example of the church itself and its bizarre, strange, (and fun to poke fun at) oddities.
Oh, it felt good to laugh tonight. What a hot mess!

“Marriage” is clearly not the same sort of marriage that most people experience. It is clearly meant to refer to a different role in the church.
Within the culture, this is a kind of liberation. Should she spend the rest of her life trying to get married, find a guy to love her, and have children? Her decision to get out of that system of arrangements is a way of expressing her own power. The language and system might be symbolic, but it seems to be leading her into peace and power.
To the self righteous, yes, she is probably pretty crazy. She is, in her own way, a threat to a system that where women must be sexual to gain the attention of men.
May 30, 2009 at 8:44 pm |
She obviously took this too far, so sad. Jesus compares himself and the Church to being husband and wife. Jesus is saviour, but not earthly soul mate, come on people read the guide book.
June 2, 2009 at 3:12 pm |
How sad really… this is clearly a case of “under control” mental illness – religion, is there anything it can’t do?
June 28, 2009 at 10:09 am |
Why not? Maybe a return to monasticism would help ease the population explosion, and the simpler way of life would be ‘greener.’ I’m not sure this is any sillier than acting as if video game characters are real people. Those gamer geeks aren’t losers, they could be consecrated cyber-virgins!

Life is not fun unless it is shared with someone else. How sad is it that this woman shares her life with no one Can you think of one experience that wasn’t more enjoyable because someone was there to witness it or share it with you. Old mythology saddens me because it cheapens even the simplest things. I’m glad I have felt another persons breathe on my neck while we made love. It reminds me that life is beautiful.
