Do you believe Obama is the AntiChrist?

By theBEattitude

The fact that this is even considered a serious question is comical. But the fact that 35% of conservatives in America think Obama may be the AntiChrist and 18% are convinced he is the AntiChrist scares the shit out of me.

Wake up from your delusion people! Just because your religion is accepted as mainstream does not make you any less bat shit crazy for believing this delusional crap. When as a nation are we going to stop allowing this insane extremist behavior to be acceptable? Cult mentality is dangerous whether it happens within a small sect or a mainline religion. It’s people like this that convince themselves they are justified to kill people in the name of their God.

The following video is from an interview with Frank Schaeffer by Rachel Maddow. Schaffer comes from a Christian perspective to intelligently discuss the topic. He speaks about saving Christianity from Christians. But you can’t save this religion from the people who practice it.

Religion today is doing exactly what it has done for thousands of years:

Inspiring some to do good things and inspiring many to act like dangerous mental patients.

  1. LRA Says:

Fundies are, by definition, “faith”-driven, which means that they don’t think critically, therefore acting like mental patients. America needs to be saved from the anti-intellectualism that is rampant in the more fundevangelical denominations.

Wake up folks! Revelations was about Emperor Nero and happened 2000 years ago. Guess what, Jesus didn’t come back. Obama is not the anti-Christ. Nero was.

  2. LeoPardus Says:

Gotta give Franky credit, he was very sensible and rational. I don’t like him but here he was right on.

  3. LeoPardus Says:

I especially like him calling fundies “village idiots”. :D

  4. Reginald Selkirk Says:

    You make joke! Ha ha.

I believe conservatives and fanatics are praying to the false messiah. >_>

  6. Sven Says:

Surely the question should be: “Is Obama the Anti-Pasta?”.

  7. Baconsbud Says:

I may not like his beliefs but at least he is telling the truth about the fundies. There needs to be more like him out there speaking about this.

  8. jackpot12 Says:

Great video. I don’t think the insanity of these people can be underestimated.

  9. Shawn Says:

It is scary how many people believe this. I live overseas now and it is embarrassing, people all over the world are watching what is going on in the US now and scratching their heads and saying “WTF?”. It is totally out of control.

The unfortunate thing is you simply can’t get these people to see reason. They are so caught up in their sick beliefs that if you try and talk to them, try and reason with them, they just claim you are just as evil as they think Obama is. As I have mentioned before, my idiot sister is one of these fanatics and I have given up trying to make her see reason, it just won’t happen.

I am really afraid that someone is going to take a shot at Obama, I don’t really think it is a matter of if but when, and all hell is going to break loose. I can guarantee you that his secret service agents are earning every penny they are paid at the moment!

This blog never fails to entertain me. Only here can you make an unsubstantiated statement like “Religion today is doing exactly what it has done for thousands of years: Inspiring some to do good things and inspiring many to act like dangerous mental patients.” and have your cohorts swallow it whole. You who are so interested in facts and proofs have not even asked for the statistics he used to make this statement. I assume it’s because he’s telling you what you want to believe, so you don’t question it.

That said, thanks for supplying this video. Shaeffer’s comments are right on.

    • Baconsbud Says:

Actually I didn’t buy into it because I have study enough history to know that religion is used to justify most of the evil committed in the world. It does account for a lot of good also. It isn’t just the christian religion that does this but since they are the major religion here they get most of the blame for this type of ignorance.

    • Geir (Gerhardt) Smith Says:

one in three people in new jersey polled thinking obama may be the antichrist
it’s thought this is a low estimate for nationwide because NJ has a low birther/truther level.
the figure may be one person out of two in large parts of the country
the poll found it was not necessarily whites, but often hispanics instead.
      whites elected obama
it’s not the whites who will lock up obama and get him executed for high treason getting the post of leader and chief and the nukes-suitcase by making a false birth certificate
he’ll be tried like a russian infiltrated spy
      court-martialed.

    • LRA Says:

Well, I come from a fundie family, so I have first hand experience with the crazy. And I live in Texas, so the stats don’t shock me at all.

      • Geir (Gerhardt) Smith Says:

the numbers will go up too because on election day the Illinois Lottery drew 666 777 9 so the Antichrist believers have an easy avenue to spread the news

if obama had a birth certificate he could laugh it off and wouldn’t have anything to fear

he should move to quash the certificate story and then he can be OK for laughing off the Antichrist story

because he got those numbers he’ll always be the Antichrist for some people so he just has to live with that. He’ll never change that. The numbers are heaven-sent for some people and won’t change

people who refuse to accept that an Antichrist exist will always see him as their hero who made 70% in poll-ratings first when he became Potus- president

    • Shawn Says:

I totally disagree. Most of us have been or are surrounded by these wackos. While thankfully I no longer live there, I am from Texas. Most of my family feels this way and I have a very very large family. Only 4 besides myself don’t buy into this crap and they constantly regale me with stories of all the hatred they witness on a daily basis aimed at non-christians, Obama and his supporters.

At the moment I currently live in a Muslim nation and surprisingly it is way way way more sane here than in the USA. All I hear from my family is “I don’t understand how you could live there, surrounded by the scum of the earth, muslims are the most horrible people there are.” Those assholes have never even met a muslim. Sure there are a few wackos out there, but on the whole, the majority, and I do mean majority, not like the minority in the US, are open minded and accepting of people of other faiths and creeds.

The wackos here are wackos, I will admit that. We have had a few terrorist bombings, but when they happen, the majority of muslims rally behind the people affected and the police do their best to bring the idiots who did it to justice.

So you see, we don’t exactly need 100% full on statistics. Most of us know first hand exactly what BE is saying and what he means. Some is anecdotal, some is just meant to be funny and some is just to open your eyes and think.

But for a Christian to say that we can’t say something with out proof, when Christianity does nothing but…..? Good joke.

      • angelawd Says:

Gier: So you see, we don’t exactly need 100% full on statistics. Most of us know first hand exactly what BE is saying and what he means. Of course you know what BE is saying, because he says what you want to believe, without questioning it or asking for proof.

But for a Christian to say that we can’t say something with out proof, when Christianity does nothing but…..? Good joke. The people on this blog are constantly demanding proof from Christians. But you don’t hold yourselves to the same standard of providing proof. This is a perfect example of what the religious see in the non-religious – atheists pick and choose which standards should apply to themselves, while demanding a different standard from the religious.

That’s what makes your views entertaining.

        • Baconsbud Says:

You again are doing what you say atheist do. You are saying that we are robots to a select set of views. Have you read every comment on this blog?

Yeah we do demand proof from christians since they have a habit of believing without any proof themselves. Most atheist tend to check the sources in the blogs before commenting or do some research on the topic. Examples are on the news every day and if you ask most that oppose anything they tend to use the words of which ever politician they think is most christian.

        • angelawd Says:

Bacon: You are saying that we are robots to a select set of views.Have you read every comment on this blog? No, I have not, and I apologize for making a generalization based on what I have read to date. I will say, though, that other than Paul M, I have seen little variance in the comments I’ve read.

Most atheist tend to check the sources in the blogs before commenting or do some research on the topic. I simply asked for the statistics regarding BE’s statement, and no one yet has been able to provide them. Instead, all the responders have commented about how Christians don’t provide proof. It’s illogical to demand one standard from one group of people, while demanding a completely different standard from another group of people.

Yeah we do demand proof from christians since they have a habit of believing without any proof themselves. I can’t let this go by without comment. Christians DO provide proof, but atheists don’t always accept the proof. I’m sure that you can see that this is a much different situation than remaining completely silent when proof is requested.

Examples are on the news every day and if you ask most that oppose anything they tend to use the words of which ever politician they think is most christian. I really don’t understand what you’re saying here. If this point is important to you, could you clarify?

        • Baconsbud Says:

Are you talking about the stat of 35% and 18%? This is the link for that pol. http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/PPP_Release_NJ_916.pdf Here is another article that breaks the numbers down a little more. http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/09/new-jersey-poll-birthers-truthers-and-the-anti-christ—-oh-my.php If you want more info on this just google Obama is the antichrist 35%.

The examples are of the people within the conservative movement that have no idea other then that they are told to be against something. I would like to see the raw footage that these news agencies use and I figure we could really get some good examples for all types of people.

What proof have you provided? I have never seen anything I would call proof come from you. Quoting the bible is not proof. Proof is evidence that can be tested over and over again.

My name is like saying TEAR but with a G, like in Gerhardt.
I’m a different kind of believer. I believe in the irrational unexplainable/ such as visions, miracles etc… So, thus, I believe the Marks of the Beast indicate Obama as the antichrist beyond any doubt. No rational basis required or obtainable.
          Heaven gives no receipts.
I’m a Kalachakra follower of Tibetan Tantric Buddhism, the world’s highest form of culture. No God in that.

          http://www.youtube.com/user/Birwapa

Obama, the antichrist is getting the final beating of his life heckled by students at a brawly town hall meeting with tens of thousands roaring against and for him. Uncontrollable. And he’s shouted down. he’s red in the black face. It’s at favs # 8

I’ve made lenghty explanations on many pages about the meaning of the Marks of the Beast for those who do enjoy, as you say u do, my writs, writings and penmanship !
Thanks for the comments I’ve not got many yet. I don’t mean my comments on my page that’s a cess-pool hehehe ! I mean personal ones like here.
          Bye.
Oh ! Apocalypse going on now. Obama’s being torn down in slow motion. This will be a tsunami. Hold onto your hats and head for high ground. It’ll not settle till a few months to a year.

        • angelawd Says:

Bacon: Like you, I would love to see the raw footage from a few different news groups, and see what really happened at that rally, versus someone’s slant on the event.

Thanks for those statistics. I know it’s easy to get lost in the nested comments, but I wasn’t asking for proof about the news clip. I asked for statistics regarding BE’s statement: Religion today is doing exactly what it has done for thousands of years:

Inspiring some to do good things and inspiring many to act like dangerous mental patients. Since statistics are so important to him/her, I asked for the hard facts for that statement.

What proof have you provided? For which issue are you requesting proof? Again, I’d like to caution you that Christians DO provide proof, but atheists don’t always accept the proof. And vice versa.

        • A chicken passeth by Says:

Like the fact that you don’t seem to regard the heckling YT video as proof. <__>

        • A chicken passeth by Says:

And the rest of my post gets eaten by the law of HTML tags =.=

Personally, I disregard statistics because they can easily be fabricated by interest groups. After disregarding statistics, tho – shames me to say that there are people out there doing evil in God’s name, and the cases, while isolated, are alarmingly prolific.

Don’t forget the rallying cry Bush used for the War on Terror. What was it again? “God is on our side”, was it? (Yes, and despite being the same God, Allah was sometimes on the Terrorists’ side…)

Also, what was the entire point of the Crusades? Why do the Israelites think they own the Gaza strip? Why is the peace in the middle east, at the most, a ceasefire and nothing more?

Doesn’t matter if they’re not in your branch or Christianity – fact still remains that God’s name is being used to justify very questionable things – like violence, exclusion and outright bias.

You can focus your questioning on one person, but I think worldly matters, now and then, speak for themselves.

        • angelawd Says:

Throughout this comment thread, I’ve patiently asked the same question while trying to avoid sidetracks: why does BE claim: “Inspiring some to do good things and inspiring many to act like dangerous mental patients.” Apparently, you weren’t able to understand that once I understood the atheist statistics for this topic, I could respond with my worldview based on my historical. anthropological, and social studies.

I’m accustomed to intellectual discussions in which one side presents their views and the reason why they have the views. Then the other side discusses their response and their reasons for the response, which is then discussed by the first party, etc. I hoped to engage people on this blog with that type of conversation so that I can understand the views of atheists and share views of my own. This doesn’t seem to be the forum for this type of discussion.

        • theBEattitude Says:

This wasn’t a random and crazy statement, it’s fact. History tells an ugly story of religion. There are countless examples.

If a person believes (without question and blind faith) that the god of their religion is real, they will often do irrational (aka crazy) things. They will then justify the insanity with their religious beliefs and texts. Do you not watch the news every night and see the crazy shit religious people do every day?

I’ll say it again, religion inspires some to do good things and inspires many to act like crazy people.

        • A chicken passeth by Says:

Simply because you want statistics for news articles which never provided any. >_>

Just a note on the Book of Revelation – I’ve been to Patmos; it’s the proverbial desert island. You wouldn’t have to spend many months there (without Wilson the volley ball to talk to) before you saw beasts rising out of the sea. Surely it was a compassionate Emperor who sent this obscure loon named John into exile instead of executing him for thinly veiled sedition.

The Council of Nicaea had several apocalypses (both Jewish and Christian) to pick from, all pretty interesting: “And the ninth kingdom says of him that from the nine Muses one separated away. She came to a high mountain and spent some time seated there, so that she desired herself alone in order to become androgynous. She fulfilled her desire and became pregnant from her desire.” Love it! From the apocalypse of Adam.

  13. Janus Grayden Says:

Is it just me or is 18% of America a lot of people who think that our President is evil incarnate?

I suppose once you take it as fact that there is literally going to be an apocalypse led by a beast, anything else is fair game, too.

I stumbled accross this website by accident. I can’t stop laughing. Just reading all of your ignorent comments about religion. Confirms everything I have alway’s known about atheists. You people are unhinged. You spend all of your time flipping out over what a few conservatives/Christians say. Get a life. Or more importantly see the truth. God loves all of you even if you are all paranoid!

    • Janus Grayden Says:

Is God’s love why he has condemned the vast majority of everyone who has ever lived and ever will live to eternal torture? Is torture even an acceptable punishment for skepticism? In light of that, if your version of God exists, how could such a being be considered loving or compassionate on any level?

I’ve never known a loving human (remember: humans are held to even lower standards than God) to threaten to torture someone who doesn’t like them, much less actually do it. If it’s unacceptable for a human to be that cruel, how much more for a being that supposedly embodies love.

It not only doesn’t make sense, it’s just ridiculous. Oh, and one more thing, please defend Numbers 31:7–18, where God commands his people to murder everyone down to the last child, except the virgins, who are to be taken as spoils of war. Honestly, tell me why a loving God who can literally do anything requires children murdered and women raped.

  18. Steve Meikle Says:

The Bible tells us how the Antichrist will be revealed. He wil stand in the temple in Jerusalem and declare himself to be God.

Any speculation before this happens is in fact open defiance of the Word of God which says that we are to flee foolish speculations and wrangling about words. (It is passages like these that too many religiously crazy people choose to ignore)

The thing is the temple is not even built. And may not be even in our lifetime

Their obsession with Antichrist is not faith, it is hysterical unbelief. They refuse to trust God and wait and see, so play that foolish game “pin the ID on the Anti Christ”, a game that is harmful to the gospel and to the sanity of its players. All this only brings the Bible and prophecy into disrepute

    • A chicken passeth by Says:

Notice that Revelations doesn’t say anything about the true God, nor does it give a specific timeline, which means you-know-who can be anywhere right now.

Also, the religious tend to filter out Revelations. If it apparently hasn’t happened yet (um…), the point is moot.

  19. Steve Meikle Says:

I have no idea who Rachel Maddow is and will not know now, as the video has been removed.

I have heard of Frank Schaeffer and came from a fundy background myself, but do not know if his rejections of it are valid – IOW WHY one rejects a religious lunacy like so called “fundamentalism” (itself a misnomer as they do NOT beleve the fundamentalis of the christian gospel – ie love and forgiveness) is important also
