A perfect God created a perfect heaven. Why then create an imperfect universe?

June 13, 2010

Christians love to talk about the perfect heaven that awaits them after death; a place with no evil, no temptation, no disease, no suffering, and no death. A perfect god created this perfect place for glorified beings to live for eternity.

Why would this omnipotent god also intentionally create a highly flawed universe filled with imperfect beings? And after creating this imperfect place, repeatedly blame his imperfect beings for his own design shortcomings? This same god also create angels who were not required to prove their faith, did not have to endure life in a broken world and freely received paradise at the moment of their creation. Does God love angels more than humans? Why not create us all to live in heaven and skip the shitty part?

Either God is sadistic or imaginaryI don’t see another option. Under the biblical model, we are little more than pawns living within a cruel game. When you take an honest look at Christian theology beyond the smiley Jesus paintings, it’s hard to deny how ludicrous and truly sad the belief system is.

The earth is 6,000 years old … because Moses said it is.

We know, on the authority of Moses, that longer than six thousand years the world did not exist.

Anything that is logical and reasonable is the Devil’s evil whore. Drown and rub dung in the face of common sense.

“Reason is the Devil’s greatest whore; by nature and manner of being she is a noxious whore; she is a prostitute, the Devil’s appointed whore; whore eaten by scab and leprosy who ought to be trodden under foot and destroyed, she and her wisdom … Throw dung in her face to make her ugly. She is and she ought to be drowned in baptism… She would deserve, the wretch, to be banished to the filthiest place in the house, to the closets.”

Satan often uses snakes and monkeys to deceive people.

“Snakes and monkeys are subjected to the demon more than other animals. Satan lives in them and possesses them. He uses them to deceive men and to injure them.”

-Martin Luther
Table Talk, from The Collected Works of Martin Luther

I did go to the local zoo before I lost faith in God. Maybe the damn monkeys deceived me!

The deaf, the blind and those with mental disabilities are possessed by the devil. And physicians who attempt to heal them with medical treatment are ignorant blockheads.

“Idiots, the lame, the blind, the dumb, are men in whom the devils have established themselves: and all the physicians who heal these infirmities, as though they proceeded from natural causes, are ignorant blockheads….”

In honor of the National Day of Prayer:

When Luther had difficulty praying, he would think of his enemies and how much he hated them. This would make him angry so he could pray for god’s Kingdom of wrathful judgement to come.

“When my heart is cold and I cannot pray as I should I scourge myself with the thought of the impiety and ingratitude of my enemies, the Pope and his accomplices and vermin, and Zwingli, so that my heart swells with the righteous indignation and hatred and I can say with warmth and vehemence: ‘Holy be Thy Name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done!’ And the hotter I grow the more ardent do my prayers become.”

Believe nothing that is reasonable or rational. Only believe the “divine” written words of archaic men that thought the earth was flat.

“Reason must be deluded, blinded, and destroyed. Faith must trample underfoot all reason, sense, and understanding, and whatever it sees must be put out of sight and … know nothing but the word of God.”

Repeatedly cheat on your wife and murder as many people as you want to. As long as you believe in Jesus, you will still go to heaven.

“Sin cannot tear you away from him [Christ] even though you commit adultery a hundred times a day and commit as many murders.”

Women are stupid, so they should be still, obey men and pop out babies.

“Men have broad and large chests, and small narrow hips, and more understanding than women, who have but small and narrow chests, and broad hips, to the end that they should remain at home, sit still, keep house, and bear and bring up children.”

I thought this quote would be appropriate for Holy Week leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus by the Jewish leaders.

Christians should vandelize the homes and synagogues of the “depraved” Jews:

“What shall we Christians do now with this depraved and damned people of the Jews? … I will give my faithful advice: First, that one should set fire to their synagogues. . . . Then that one should also break down and destroy their houses. . . . That one should drive them out the country.”
