A tree? A bird?
You may be wondering what the meaning is behind the header for this blog. I’m an designer, artist and musician, so I tend to put too much thought into these things.
The Title
The ”E” of the BEattitude typography is a backwards ”3″. Biblically, the number three is used repeatedly. God is in three persons, Jesus was 33 when he died, Peter forsake him three times, he rose from the dead after three days, etc. The Bible uses the number three when something is considered complete. This is a backwards perspective since we should never consider ourselves complete. We are always a work in progress. You can read more in my definition of what it means to have a “BE attitude“.
The Tree
The tree has been used by many traditions to represent life, wisdom, protection, and strength. In Christianity, the tree is also used as a metaphor to describe a person who is strong in their faith. Growing tall and strong, having deep roots and reaching skyward. When it loses its leaves, new ones grow. It bears fruit for others and gives shelter. The Bible uses this symbol most strongly in Psalm 1:3 and in the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden.
The Bird
The symbol of a bird has always been associated with freedom. A bird can go anywhere it wants and see everything for what it is. Their visual perspective of earth is without obstruction or limitation.
These graphics represent the drastic change that recently happened in my life. Being rooted didn’t allow me to move or question anything. I could only look up and blindly believe what the Bible tells me is true. Viewing the world without the obstruction of archaic religious beliefs has allowed me to truly enjoy the beauty in my life.
